Had a great day on a wine tour with my mom for her birthday.  We visted the beautiful Grape Creek Vineyard and Becker Vineyards.  We ate at The Pink Pig and it was GREAT!  If you love great food and views then don't miss this stop on Highway 290.

Round Rock Express Game

Had a great time at the Round Rock Express game on April 4th.  Can't thank them enough for the Pool & Spa area that they reserved for the Austin Bloggers.  I would recommend the area for a birthday party, or large group just looking to enjoy a great day of sun, fun, and baseball.

Wimberley Valley Winery

Deer Run Chauffer Service took a group on a wine tour yesterday.  We got to enjoy many wineries, but a new one for us was Wimberley Valley Winery!  WOW, what a great place.  This is a definite spot on our touring list.  I can't wait to make my own wine slushy with their Texas Country Cellars Sweet Red.  YUMMY!  Wine and a cool slushy all in one.

Vino & Pasta

Had a great day on the Wine Road Fredericksburg 290.  Took a couple of people on a TX wine trail with Deer Run Wine Tours.  We hit Texas Hills Vineyard, Williams Chris Vineyards, Luckenbach, Grape Creek Vineyard, and Becker Vineyard.  It was an awesome day touring the hill country, even though I did not partake in the vino, I was able to sample the scrumptious pasta!

Enjoyed a great glass of Grape Creek Vineyards wine, Bellissimo!  I love touring Grape Creek Vineyards on the TX wine trail.  Just around the corner is 2013 Wine & Wildflower Trail.  Who wouldn't enjoy a great glass of wine touring the hill country fields of bluebonnets?  April 5-14, 10 days long with 32 participating wineries.  The Wine & Wildflower Kick-off Tasting is Friday, April 5, 6-8 at Dry Comal Creek Vineyards.  Let Deer Run Chauffeur Service take you on your wine tour, sit back and enjoy the wine and wildflowers!

Trattoria Lisina

I love dinner at Trattoria Lisina and enjoying the scenery and sunsets!  Deer Run enjoyed a fabulous dinner and a bottle of Mazzoni!  What a delicious bottle of wine pairing it with Antipasto Misto.  If you have never been to Trattoria Lisina or Duchman Family Winery then you are missing out on a beautiful piece of the hill country!

Valentine Pairings!

HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY!

Today's discussion:  Chocolate & Wine

If you enjoy the buttery flavor of white chocolate, then maybe a good Moscato d'Asti or Orange Muscat.  Something with sweet bubbles pairs well with white chocolate.

If milk chocolate is your favorite, then I recommend a pinot noir, or light-bodied Merlot.  A creamy milk chocolate would be delicious with a muscat, sparkling wine, or dessert wine.

Dark chocolate is paired nicely with a Cabernet or Zinfandel.  

My favorite - chocolate covered strawberries with a nice sparkling wine or Champagne!

Mardi Gras is a good time to showcase Cajun Cuisine!  What wines could you pair with these wonderful hot and spicy flavors?  Those of us who enjoy big and bold reds might want to pass while eating these rich and buttery foods.

Some ideas:

Gumbo - Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Noir, or Shiraz

Catfish, Creole or Etouffee - White Wine (Riesling, Gewurtztraminer or Sauvignon Blanc)

King Cake - Sparkling wine!
